Dr Butcher is the Consultant Cardiologist and heart rhythm specialist at the Advanced Cardiac Clinic.
He currently also works as the lead for arrhythmia services at Dorset County Hospital. He performs device implantations including pace makers, internal cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices and ablations.
After graduating from the Royal Free and University College London Medical school Dr Butcher was awarded a PhD at Imperial College London for his thesis which focussed on optimising cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemakers for patients with heart failure.
His work has been presented at national and international conferences and subsequently published in well respected journals. He completed his general cardiology training and electrophysiology fellowship at various prestigious London teaching hospitals including Harefield Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, before taking up his current post.
Dr Butcher specialises in rhythm disorders and performs a range of treatments.

Patients with Private Medical Insurance
If you are planning on booking an appointment with Dr Butcher, it’s important that you contact your insurance company beforehand to confirm your policy cover and obtain a pre authorisation number. We are currently accepting the following insurance companies: Aviva, Bupa, Beneden, Cigna, Vitality, WPA, Preferred Healthcare & others.
If you are having a procedure with us, we’ll be in touch beforehand to confirm the following details:
- The name of your insurance company
- membership or policy number
- Your pre-authorisation code or claim reference number
These details mean that we can liaise directly with your insurance company for payment so that you can focus on your recovery.
Self-Pay Patients
You can pay for your care yourself, in order to access high quality care in the shortest possible time. The starting point for most patients is a consultation appointment. Most are in the range of £220 to £250 for initial consultations (please note that this varies per centre).
We will be able to provide you with further details including indications of future costs.
For many of our tests and procedures we offer fixed price packages. These provide peace of mind and include all costs including hospital costs, doctors’ costs and device costs.
